I have an expression I use in readings where I say "I'm just going to sit with them", where I am hanging out with the spirit's energy and waiting for them to give me something to give to you. I am never surprised by anything spirits decide to share. It can be a description, it can be an action. It can be an impression, or it can be an emotion. As in physical life, all spirits have a different personality and communication style.
I was in a reading and had described the physical features the spirit had given me, and I was just 'sitting' with her, waiting for the next step in which she gives me something else. So we sat, and we sat some more. I waited and waited, and she just sat there. I explained to the sitter I was just going to sit a little bit more. I was a little flustered that time was ticking by and I wasn't able to get anything from this lovely soul.
She was just sitting there.
I looked up and apologized. "I'm sorry, but she's not giving me anything. Usually if I sit long enough they will give me something but she has not given me anything. She's just... sitting there...I'm trying to get something out of her, but she's just sitting there."
"Oh...well...that's what she used to do, just sit there, so that makes sense." she replied. She laughed and I breathed a huge sigh of relief.
That was how she chose to confirm herself, by just sitting there, because she knew that would make sense to the sitter. After that acknowledgment, she opened up and began passing on other messages. This is how spirit communication works.
