A couple of years ago, I was wallowing in my loneliness and not having much faith in any future happiness. In my quest for a peaceful heart that day, I asked the Universe to give me a sign about love. I asked a specific question, and I asked it aloud. I knew that would be the glimmer of hope that would brighten my day. Later on in the afternoon, there was a wind storm with the kind of wind that makes you put your face down as you walk. With my eyes focused on the sidewalk I saw a leaf in the shape of a heart in my path. "My sign!" I thought and I reached into my bag for my phone. The wind was whipping my hair all around my face and I kept glancing at the leaf expecting it to blow away. I was cursing myself a fool as I knew the leaf was going to escape the phone's convenient camera, and I would have to be happy with the memory ingrained upon my mind, but I was still intent on trying to get a photograph. The leaf magically stayed until I got the shot, and then it got picked up by the wind and swirled into the sky. It was only an inch and a half long and a mutant form of itself, but it meant everything to me that day.
All throughout our day, the Universe gives us signs that are individual to our lives. One of the easiest ways to connect to the divinity that is around us to to keep all of our senses open for these signs, and to ask for them. They can be subtle, they can be bold, they can be affirmations, or they can be warnings. If you ever think the Universe is trying to tell you something, you're right.
I heart you, Universe.
